WMS Software and Hardware Requirements
Stocker will operate on any modern standard PC running Windows. Indeed it may have the lowest hardware and software requirement specification when compared to
other Warehouse Mangement Systems offering similar functionality. The design of Stocker has focused explicitly on performance to target delivery on very low
specification PC's.
To this end has been tested on older Pentium II's (as a client to SQL Server hosted elsewhere) through to Dual Core machines.
Below is a list of the small requirements for installing Stocker WMS.
- Supported Operating Systems
- Windows 2000
- Windows XP
- Windows 7
- Database Manager
- Microsoft's stated system requirements for SQL 2008 Express
- Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows Vista Service Pack 1, Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Service Pack 3
- 32-Bit Systems: Computer with Intel or compatible 1GHz or faster processor (2 GHz or faster is recommended. Only a single processor is supported)
- 64-Bit Systems: 1.4 GHz or higher processor (2 GHz or faster is recommended. Only a single processor is supported)
- Minimum of 256 MB of RAM (1 GB or more is recommended)
- 1 GB of free hard disk space
- Hard Disk Space For Stocker's Database
- SQL Server 2008 Express Release 2 can now support databases of 10Gb in size. It is impossible to calculate exactly how much disk space each installation will require without knowing size of warehouse, number of customers, suppliers, products etc and pallet movement. However, with the low cost of disks it is recommended to have the full 10 Gb avaiable plus a comfortable 2Gb excess.
- Hardware and software Requirements - client
- There are no special hardware or software requirements. For useability, the only requirement is a monitor with a resolution 1024x768. However, a resolution of at least 1152x864 is recommended.
Note Windows Vista is not listed as supported as Stocker has not been tested under Vista although it has been confirmed that Stocker has been running on at least one vista system.
The requirements listed above outline the basic hardware and software requirements for Stocker to operate. However, PulseStar would also like to point out a few additional recommendations.
- If you are installing SQL Server Express, then, if possible, install SQL Server and the Stocker database on a dedicated computer - the server.
- If you have a single user system you can use Stocker on this dedicated machine.
- Do not install SQL Server and the Stocker database on a machine accessed by numerous people.
- To avoid compromising the server with virus infections do not use a machine which has general access to the internet.
- Before installing, thoroughly clean the computer of all unwanted data and defragment the machine's disk.
PulseStar will shortly be offering a 1 day installation and training service. Please contact PulseStar for more information.
